Our Story

Started in a shrinking town.
Built to bring it back.

New Iberia, Louisiana has lost more than one in eight of its people since 2010. Young folks leave for work. Storefronts go quiet. And the people who built this town — the ones who taught us to cook — grow older with fewer people looking out for them, in a state where diabetes runs higher than almost anywhere in America.

Here's what got our founder: we live in the home of gumbo, étouffée, and court-bouillon — food so good people cross oceans for it — and our elders were being handed bland, beige "senior meals," or sitting on waiting lists for a hot plate. Somewhere along the way, eating well started to mean giving up the food you love.

Vivant is the answer to both. We keep the flavor — the Sunday-dinner, food-is-love soul of Louisiana cooking — and quietly rebuild what's underneath it: more protein, more fiber, less sodium, portioned right. The gumbo that raised you is now the gumbo that keeps you going.

"One town, fed and employed by its own food. Prove it in New Iberia — then take it to every small town that's been told its best days are behind it."

1

From the farm

Louisiana rice, okra, sweet potatoes, shrimp & crawfish — food dollars stay in the parishes that grew them.

2

Through the kitchen

Cooked here, by people from here — a training ground for young people building food careers at home.

3

To the door

Drivers are neighbors on a weekly route. Every delivery is a check-in: a face, a hand, somebody noticing.

4

For the people who built this place

Helping Acadiana's elders stay healthy, independent, and at home — the debt we owe.

Made for Living

This is what living looks like.

Not "senior meals." Not slowing down. Good food is fuel for the life you're still busy living — the boat, the music, the front porch, the second helping of years.
